Today we will have a brief interview with our newest ICBA Board Member Grandmaster Tim Pickens:

ICBA: So Tim, looking at your background you are a dedicated Chinese martial arts instructor with over 45 years of experience in the Winglock Ng family style, committed to fostering confidence, self-discipline, and a positive approach to life with your students.

You are recognized worldwide for contributions to martial arts through teaching, writing, and leadership roles. Tim, we know you are Passionate about the transformative power of martial arts and have dedicated a significant portion of your life to passing on the Ng Family art in its truest form.

ICBA: So let’s talk a bit about your professional experience.

TIM: Well, I am the current Grand Master Instructor for Winglock Ng Martial Arts
and have studied directly from Great Grandmaster John Winglock Ng since 1979 through the Present

I have Developed and taught my martial arts curriculum based on the Winglock Ng family style, emphasizing respect, self-discipline, and personal growth.

Throughout the years I have Successfully mentored a diverse range of students, including professionals in medicine, law enforcement, and the military.

ICBA: So what do you list as your greatest achievements so far in your Chinese Martial Arts pursuits:

TIM: I think at the top of the list was my Induction as the successor of Dr. John Winglock Ng’s family styles in 2017, this was such an amazing honor.

I think second to that was the satisfaction I have received through the coaching of students to achieve personal and professional success through martial arts training.

ICBA: Well Tim, I have known your ShiFu Dr. Ng for more than 45 years and there is no doubt in my mind that his knowledge is so vast it can be imparted like a firehose. What have you personally done to preserve the knowledge and curriculum of the Ng Family style?

TIM: I have Authored four books on the Winglock Ng family styles, including Southern Golden Monkey Fist, Six Harmonies Drunken Boxing, and Southern Golden Monkey Style. Published in five countries.

I also Co-authored Chinese Ring Daggers: The Ultimate Close-Quarter Weapons.

ICBA: So in addition to Chinese Martial Arts, what other physical activities have you pursued?

TIM: I am the Director of World Stunt Association for the Midwest US & Kentucky

ICBA: That sounds interesting, what does that role consist of?

TIM: I have provided leadership and guidance on martial arts stunt safety and choreography, enhancing the professional standards for stunt performers in the region.

ICBA: Well you certainly have been active as both a practitioner and a stunt performer – any other honors you would care to share with our readers?

TIM: I was Inducted into the American Martial Arts Alliance Foundation book's 10th annual edition as one of only 19 Honorees.

I also was Awarded the Outstanding Creative Achievement Award in Film for stunt choreography and directing at the 2009 Kentucky Winter Film Fest.

Over the years, I have been featured in: Inside Kung-Fu, Kung Fu/Tai Chi Illustrated, and Karate Illustrated magazine.

ICBA: Tim have affiliated yourself with any martial arts organizations over the years?

TIM: Yes, I am a Board Member of the International Chinese Boxing Association
