The International Chinese Boxing Association was founded 50 years ago, for the purpose of sharing, advancing and propagating the Chinese Martial Arts. Since then, the world of martial arts has grown across the globe, advancing past the borders of a nation or region’s local styles and systems. With the expansions of travel and technology, the martial arts has grown past borders, methods and lineages. We have cross-pollenated with other systems and peoples, growing past the confines of tradition into advancing methodologies, new systems, new thoughts and cross-training.
Now, The International Chinese Boxing Association has also evolved into the future. We are One Family, Many Styles! With this spirit, we welcome ALL martial artists, styles, and systems into our Family.
The ICBA’s Purpose has expanded to ensure that each Martial Artist, Instructor, Leader and Independent is supported and heard. It is for this reason we have been expanding our membership offerings to ensure each member is offered benefits with membership. This is done through our Programs which we continue to develop and expand.

Greetings, my name is Grandmaster David Grago, and I am honored to have led the International Chinese Boxing Association (ICBA) for the past 50 years. My journey began with a vision that started as a modest regional fraternal Kung Fu organization in the 1960s. Over the decades, this vision evolved, and by the mid-1980s, the ICBA transformed into a global association featuring nearly 10,000 members.
As the ICBA continued to prosper, we witnessed the significant evolution of martial arts. What once comprised a small number of family-based styles has now transitioned into a vibrant community that garners worldwide attention. Today, Chinese martial arts are no longer limited to traditional practitioners hidden away in secluded training halls; they are showcased across social media, captivating audiences across the globe. However, this transformation has not been without its challenges, as the art forms and practices we cherish are occasionally misrepresented, leading to a perception that resembles a circus sideshow.
With the ICBA re-launch this year, we are embracing a new and exhilarating chapter in our history. We have assembled a talented and professional group of martial artists, from many backgrounds, who will play a crucial role in managing and governing this esteemed organization. Together, we aim to preserve the integrity of our martial arts while adapting to the modern dynamics of our social environment. Our dedicated leaders are committed to ensuring that the essence of martial arts is respected, valued, and promoted accurately.
